Come and celebrate with us the annual Indian celebration of ‘Festival of Lights’ (aka Deepavali).
The festival is known for ‘let there be light where there is darkness, and give to the less fortunate.'
The Plant 4 and Sarj will host the occasion. Sarj will cook for you some Northern and Southern Indian dishes to celebrate her parents' cultures, as well as her own style of fusion cooking that is popular during her three market days. The menu will include a wide range of Vegan and Vegetarian dishes as well. Menu to follow soon.
On arrival you can enjoy a complimentary champagne or a soft drink, or hot or ice Chai tea the way Sarj's mother used to make it.
The night will have a 'Bollywood' theme with a dance performances. A Bollywood movie will be playing in the background giving an insight into a traditional Indian household like the one Sarj experienced as a child in Malaysia. If you have not yet practiced the Bollywood dance of ‘pat the dog and screw in the light bulb’ then this may be the time to learn, it's easy!
Of course Bollywood is all about glamour, glitter and make-up! Come dressed in your own Bollywood attire. Alternatively come early and let Plant 4's regular clothing stall-owner Josie help you choose a suitable garment for the occasion, She will have suitable garments a week before the Diwali night so that you may come and browse before the 19th, plus, on the night she will have a professional make-up artist to do your exotic Indian make-up for a small fee.
So come with your family and friends to celebrate the occasion with us among the shimmering Diwali lights at Plant 4 Bowden. $1 from your attendance fee will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. If you wish to donate more then you may do so on the night. Any left-over food will be donated to OZ Harvest as a further contribution.
